About Me – I Am A Survivor

Chipping away fat

Michelangelo was once asked the secret of making his beautiful sculptures. He replied that he just chipped away the part of the stone that wasn’t the sculpture to reveal the angel within.

Like those beautiful sculptures, hidden deeply underneath the massively fat exterior that is my current super obese body, is the beautiful, slim *me*, begging to be released. Like Michelangelo, I will chip away the fat, one pound at a time, to reveal the beautiful slim person screaming to come out.

I was put on my first weight loss regime aged 9. Today, I have taken drastic actions in my long and arduous quest to lose weight and maintain the weight loss.

Today, (Monday, 16th February, 2015), I started the Cambridge diet, aged 41.

I would like to lose 5 stones in 6 months. When I lose that amount, I will decide whether to suspend the extreme part of the diet and try our 9th IVF cycle with my wonderful husband, the love of my life, or carry on losing weight. If the weight loss proves successful, I could ultimately continue until I have lost 10 stones, which will put me in the middle of a healthy range for my height. I have never been anywhere near my ultimate dream weight, 60 kg. The lowest I have been in the last 25 years is 86.5 kg. Do the maths.

This blog charts my quest to chip away the fat, warts and all.

Please wish me luck.

Update Friday 16th October, 2015

24th February 2015: Eight days after I started this weight loss journey, my previously happy marriage was shattered discovering my husband of 11 years and over 14 years relationship was having an affair with a 48 year old Vietnamese married mother of two.

My ex spent over two months pretending to be working on saving our marriage while secretly preparing for a divorce, planning a life with his mistress, including finding a flat 5 minutes from this married woman.

He would boast that his mistress and her sister, who is a divorce lawyer, were giving him divorce advice even before I found out about his affair.

4th May 2015: My ex ended our marriage by sending me an email from his business trip to Singapore. He said on that email, he would continue paying all bills and would not leave me “financially stranded“. My husband has a very high paying job as an accountant and a banker in a City of London bank.

Friday 5th June, 2015: On what should have been our 11th wedding anniversary, I received an email from my husband’s lawyers indicating that he wanted a divorce and asking me to get legal advice. The letter also said I would be sent the divorce petition to review, before it was filed.

My betrayal and my ex’s incomprehensive cruelty in sending this letter on our wedding anniversary, is compounded by the fact that he chose the law firm of his mistress’ sister who is a divorce lawyer to act for him for our divorce.

Monday 8th June, 2015: Without waiting for me to respond to this email or seek legal advice, my husband and his lawyers would break family law protocols by immediately filing for a divorce without me reviewing the divorce petition or getting legal advice.

Tuesday 9th June, 2015: Even though his email ending our marriage had pledged to keep paying my bills and not leave me financially stranded, my husband, wrote through his lawyers stating that he would immediately terminate monthly payments he was making to our joint account for household expenses and would pay £0.

My husband immediately cancelled all credit cards I had and closed our joint account.

Numerous letters since then and a mediation process has failed to get this man, who is a very high earning banker to pay even a £1 interim maintenance.

My husband has continued to make my life as difficult as he can. Every week brings new inexplicable, cruel, incomprehensible, wicked behaviour from this evil man who used to tell me daily, even after the discovery of his affair that he loved me. I was his world. He would love me forever. He would save my life before his.

Whilst the divorce continues to go through, I have filed for financial settlement order through the courts. As my husband has continued to be inexplicably unreasonable, it is likely that the court case could last until a final hearing expected end of summer 2016 or even later.

Through all the lies, secrets, betrayals, cruelty, I have stayed on my weight loss journey instead of comfort eating and gaining silly weight as I have done all my life.

Since February 16th 2015 when I started my weight loss journey, as of today, I have lost 35.7 kg; 78.5 pounds; 5 stones 8.7 pounds.

I Can Do This!

So girl, I suggest you continue this journey, pick yourself up, look fly as hell and find love all over again. 6. Life can be full of so many disappointments & your husband has really turned on you, I have been there & had all my belongings & clothes destroyed. I am now in a much better place but couldn’t look ahead & realise it. I too am now on the Cambridge diet, I came across your blog looking for Step 2 recipes. I wish you all the luck in the world with your weight loss & your divorce. The highlight of mine was the judge telling my ex he had committed perjury & reminded him Jeffrey Archer was currently in prison for it & then granted me the house. I have my fingers crossed you will get the settlement you want.
